“Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed about where you are today. Do this because it makes your body & mind healthier.”

We started working with Ethan in December 2015. Even after accomplishing our initial goals we continued with Ethan because we continued to see the benefit of working with such a professional. We started out working with him twice a week each - one individual session each, and a partner session (we still love partner sessions!). With changing schedules over the years, we have bi-weekly training sessions with Ethan that one or both of us can make.

Melissa’s Story

I remember Ethan teaching us kettlebell exercises in early 2016. At the time, I truly disliked them, now kettlebell training is my favorite! My original goals were to exercise regularly for a healthier lifestyle, increase overall fitness level, and lose weight.

In the first year, I was very successful. I lost 70 pounds and ran my first half marathon in 7 years since having kids. I have continued to work out at least twice per week and continued running. I am still more physically fit than I was years ago and I notice it in all aspects of my life.

Ethan’s enthusiasm is very motivating - it is clear that he loves training. He is truly pumped when you make progress, which is so gratifying - I want to make him proud!

Ethan is fully engaged in our workouts. It still surprises me how much of a difference small form corrections can make on the effectiveness of a workout. Ethan’s trainings are well-paced and hard, while he also provides great adjustments to make exercises easier or harder as needed.

I am also much more aware of how my body works, which I think reduces my chance of injury, especially as I get older. In addition to all the reasons listed, I like that Ethan finds ways to connect on a personal level - he shares about himself and is curious about you. He doesn’t make you feel less worthy because you’re heavier, older, less fit than others, or your life doesn’t revolve around fitness.

Finally, he has an excellent ability to motivate in the moment, to find the right thing to say to get your mind and body to do what you don’t think you can do. It’s awesome.

P.S I want to enjoy lots of active adventures in later life/retirement and I know I need to invest in my health now in order to make that dream happen!

Chris’s Story

My original goals included increased overall fitness level and muscle strength, and to try to trim a little off the middle.

I can honestly say that I feel better physically than I ever have – I have met each of these goals and have become much more aware of how I use my body in everyday activities. In all the time we’ve worked with him, I can’t think of a time when Ethan repeated a workout. He has so many different ways to get at the muscle groups he wants to work that every workout has been unique.

I could never do that on my own and I really appreciate the creativity and thought Ethan brings. The only thing I’d add is that he clearly cares about us as people – he cares about how we are and what we do outside the gym too because he realizes that those things affect how we train and vice versa.

Having never trained before, I was intimidated going to the gym at the beginning. Working with Ethan and knowing that I was learning good form gave me the confidence to workout on my own and also to feel comfortable working out where other people could see me.

I feel so fortunate that we happened to meet Ethan. It’s clear to me that Ethan has a level of passion, commitment, and interest that sets him apart. Part of what this means for me is that he’s figured out how to teach me in ways he knows make sense to me.

Having a trainer who could help me feel comfortable using the equipment and eliminate the fear of doing things wrong and getting hurt while also keeping workouts interesting and fun has been a huge help. I really look forward to our continued training!
