Melissa’s Story
I remember Ethan teaching us kettlebell exercises in early 2016. At the time, I truly disliked them, now kettlebell training is my favorite! My original goals were to exercise regularly for a healthier lifestyle, increase overall fitness level, and lose weight.
In the first year, I was very successful. I lost 70 pounds and ran my first half marathon in 7 years since having kids. I have continued to work out at least twice per week and continued running. I am still more physically fit than I was years ago and I notice it in all aspects of my life.
Ethan’s enthusiasm is very motivating - it is clear that he loves training. He is truly pumped when you make progress, which is so gratifying - I want to make him proud!
Ethan is fully engaged in our workouts. It still surprises me how much of a difference small form corrections can make on the effectiveness of a workout. Ethan’s trainings are well-paced and hard, while he also provides great adjustments to make exercises easier or harder as needed.
I am also much more aware of how my body works, which I think reduces my chance of injury, especially as I get older. In addition to all the reasons listed, I like that Ethan finds ways to connect on a personal level - he shares about himself and is curious about you. He doesn’t make you feel less worthy because you’re heavier, older, less fit than others, or your life doesn’t revolve around fitness.
Finally, he has an excellent ability to motivate in the moment, to find the right thing to say to get your mind and body to do what you don’t think you can do. It’s awesome.
P.S I want to enjoy lots of active adventures in later life/retirement and I know I need to invest in my health now in order to make that dream happen!
