Hilary’s Story

I started training with Ethan about a year and a half ago, after I broke my knee and needed help with rehab.  We worked together for about a year and I was feeling strong when, one weekend at the beach, I was hit by a 90 lb. dog “missile” who ran full force into the back of the same knee, breaking it in a different place.  We had to start the rehab process all over again. 

Sometimes it was just Ethan’s positivity and kindness that kept me hopeful. I have gotten function and strength back after 2 different episodes of broken bones.  I also have a torn ACL on that same knee from an injury over 20 years ago.  It was never repaired, and my goal has been to strengthen and stabilize so that I don’t have further injuries.  At 66, it’s essential that I not only get full function back but that I don’t go the other direction, unable to walk and do daily life! 

I consider my training with Ethan to be a priority and one that I will continue to do as long as possible. Ethan listens and adjusts training according to where I’m at that day. He is always patient and supportive. I think the biggest accomplishment thus far has been getting to the point beyond rehab, to strength training and increased flexibility for the pure joy of it rather than just healing from injury.

He truly knows what he’s doing, which exercises will work in the exact spots you are trying to improve, just how many repetitions to do, how much to insist you can do it, and how much to readjust the exercise specifically for you. I trust Ethan explicitly and would wholeheartedly recommend him to my closest family, friends or my own client. I truly feel that Ethan is an extraordinary person and I am lucky to have him as my trainer.  At this point, I consider training with him to be part of the necessary regime of taking care of myself, like eating good food and sleeping well.

Ethan has the innate ability to connect with the people he works with and understand what they need in order to move to the next step, whether they are focusing on rehab, training for a marathon, strength training, greater flexibility or whatever the case may be.

He always coaches in a way that makes me feel like I can do it, he makes it fun, and at the same time really knows what he’s doing – knows the anatomy and physiology, knows how it all works together and exactly where to focus.  I’m a physician myself and wouldn’t trust my training to anyone else.

Personally I have not worked with anyone better than Ethan. I would tell anyone to START NOW!
